On the subject of anti-seasonal knits, I have a theory that it's better to knit things out of season, because then they're done by the time you want to wear/use them. I'm such a slow knitter that I always end up with part-finished jumpers at the end of winter, and I never seem to start my summer cardigans in time to actually wear them before it gets too cold.
